There’s no hassle when it comes to vacationing with your dog in Lake Geneva. A quaint resort town known for its hospitality to humans, Lake Geneva also rolls out the red carpet for pets, offering a variety of pet-friendly activities, accommodations, and eateries.

Must-Do Activities With Your Dog

One of the most popular recreational activities in Lake Geneva is hiking along the 21-mile Lake Shore Path. Encircling Geneva Lake and showcasing Gilded Age mansions, the path provides stunning views for you and your pup. Unless you’re committed to an all-day hike, plan to break the path into sections. Stop by Paws for Treats, Lake Geneva’s specialty pet store, to pamper your pup with treats or new toys.

You could also head to Clear Water Outdoor to rent a pup-friendly paddleboard. Your and your dog will love gliding on the lake and seeing the town from the water. If you’re making your reservation online, type “Joy Ride” in the notes section to make sure you reserve the appropriate paddleboard.

Top Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Most restaurants that have patio seating in Lake Geneva welcome well-behaved and leashed dogs.

If you’re in the mood for Italian and want to be near the water, try Oakfire Pizza. They specialize in Neapolitan-style pizzas with simple ingredients, but their menu is expansive and offers fresh fare all day long.

Barrique Wine & Brew Bar is located nearby on the water and features small plates, such as crab cakes and oysters. This is a perfect place to sip a glass of wine and watch the sunset after an active day with your dog.

For a more upscale, intimate atmosphere, grabbing a sidewalk table at Sopra Bistro is your best bet. Located on Main Street, this restaurant serves creative pasta, duck, pork, and lamb dishes.

Best Places to Stay With Your Pup

The highest-rated hotel in Lake Geneva is the Grand Geneva Resort, and they pamper pups as much as they do humans. Your dog will get special treats and bedding, and can access the many pet-friendly areas of the spacious resort. There’s an additional $65 room charge and dogs must be 25 pounds or less.

The Maxwell Mansion offers a resort-like sophistication, but with more history. Built in the 1850s, the Maxwell estate channels the old world charm with a speakeasy, cognac lounge, pool, cabana, and luxurious rooms. With dogs, you’ll stay in the modern rustic Carriage House and Stables. Pet friendly rooms are an additional $55.

There are also many bed & breakfasts in the Lake Geneva area that cater to pets.
