Kathryn Dreifuerst has always made art of one kind or another. Growing up, she filled her spare time with drawing, painting, and making assemblages from found objects. Throughout high school and college, Dreifuerst focused on drawing and painting. After graduation, she happened upon a ceramics class at UW-Oshkosh taught by Paul Donhauser and fell in love with clay. The functional ceramics of Warren McKenzie remain a great source of inspiration for her, and a trip to Italy in 2009 inspired her to return to her first love, oil painting. She is currently spending more of her time with paint rather than clay. The paintings in this exhibit were inspired by the words of T.S. Eliot.  The poems, “The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock” and “The Hollow Men” provided Dreifuerst with rich visual imagery to draw from.
