CANCELED SOMETHING ROTTEN! - SUMMER PENINSULA PLAYERS THEATRE.
Broadway’s hilarious, award-winning, smash-hit musical with book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick. Conceived by Karey Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick. “’Something Rotten!’ was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and is a very funny romp through, you know, the Renaissance,” Artistic Director Greg Vinkler said.
Nick and Nigel Bottom are two brothers desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” To get some help, Nick hires a local soothsayer who foretells that in the future the world will see a new form of theater that involves acting, singing and dancing – all at the same time! It’s called a MUSICAL! They eagerly set out to write a hit and beat that Bard! Their brilliant writing includes musical numbers like “God, I Hate Shakespeare” and “Make an Omelette.”
